Open Water Swimming


*Improve your strokes and swimming techniques for distances of 400 yards and longer, indoors and out.
*Prepare for open water racing including triathlons, cable swims, Big Shoulders

*Learn how to design your own practice sets

*Open water swimming techniques including sighting, buoy turns, pacing, bi-lateral breathing

*Proper use of training equipment

*Where to go in Northern Illinois

*Postal swims and how they can benefit you.

Class meets 2x a week on Tuesday and Thursday from 7:15-7:55pm; first class meets October 14

Taught by USMS Long Distance All-American (2000, 2005, and 2008) who is also current national USMS relay record holder in 400 freestyle, 400 medley and 800 freestyle relays

Registering students should be able to
swim 200-400 yards of freestyle without stopping

Norris Recreation Center offers three different group aquatic classes for adults. One may be just right for you.
